What I wore on Christmas day.

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you had a great time with family and friends. Me and my family had a wonderful day and were very spoilt. Think I ate too much but that's what makes Christmas. What did you all get for Christmas? Leave me a comment below, I'm a nosey little blogger! I got some lovely makeup, lady Gaga's perfume, a vintage radio and many more. I will upload a post on all my presents soon.

Yesterday we spent all day at home as the British weather is awful at the moment. I still made a slight effort though in dressing up for the occasion. I wore a silky red dress from Topshop (brought last year) with my black tights. In my ear is a cuff from Topshop, and I'm wearing Red lipstick from Rimmel. Please excuse the blurry pictures. After twenty attempts of getting my son to take my picture this was the best one.

Stuck on what to wear Christmas day?

This year, Christmas for us will be a small family affair. As it will just be me, my husband and my two little boys i could probably get away with wearing my pjs for the whole day. That will be nice. However, whether your Christmas Day is a small family affair or a raucous party, one thing is certain: you will be photographed. So i am going to make a little bit of an effort. As the boys are still very young, i like to take lots of pictures and videos at christmas for them to look back on when they are older. So, i do not want any unflattering snaps coming back to haunt me in years to come. I have started to plan my christmas outfit and thought id share with you so that i may pass on some inspiration. Here's my ideas on what I could be wearing to rock around the tree this December 25.

Whats inside my Glossy box December 2012

glossy_zps544858a6

I was really excited to receive this months glossy box especially since it was going to be a festive edition. I have heard lots of great things about lasts years Christmas box so was hoping this one would be as good.
The box was a pretty silver rather than its usual pink, with black and silver starry tissue paper inside, tied with a silver ribbon. The usual menu of the contents was replaced with a large sheet explaining the contents in detail with a load of discount codes.

When I opened the box a disappointed look fell on my face. Although the box did smell nice (probably because the perfume was leaking) the products inside where not what the other girls were receiving. I felt a little bit upset that Ive paid £12 in total and did not receive the same amazing products. Most girls received eye palettes and a full sized Milkshake whipped conditioning cream. So i need to decide whether or not this is my last glossy box as i feel like I'm wasting my money. I have filled in the surveys but still get the wrong shades.

Anyway rant over, What did i get?

First up the tiny perfume sample: "Lemon" by Mary Greenwell.

Mary Greenwell is a famous British make up artist and this is her second fragrance. The "Lemon" perfume is very pricey,  costing £90 for a 100ml bottle or £60 for £50 ml. I didn't have to test this as the bottle has leaked all other the box so everything smells of this. In my opinion, this is not worth the price. I'm not a huge fan of citrus scents. I am more of a floral girl so this sample has unfortunately been placed in the bin.

The next product is this nail varnish by Seche.

The shade is 'simplicity' which is a dull nude creme colour. This shade is not my cup of tea at all. Its too boring and plain for my liking. However, it does apply well and only really needs one coat to look professional.  A full size costs £9.95. If you like these nail polishes you can currently get buy one get one free from nailsbymail.co.uk with code: SecheGlossy.

The worst, most disappointing product in the box is the Sleek true colour lipstick.

The shade is 'Amped' which is the brightness shade of pink Ive have ever seen. Very 80's. I really like sleek lipsticks, i think they are very good value for money at £4.99 but this isn't my shade. I'm quite boring when it comes to wearing bold colours so this little lipstick will be donated to a friend.

I think Rituals is a really great brand and the scent of this is so lovely! It's a really delicate scent and this promises to nourish the skin leaving it feeling silky soft. This is one of my favourites in this months box, and I'm really looking forward to using this one. The bottle is a nice sample size at 70ml. The website states that this is one of their best selling products with a 70ml size selling  for £5 and the larger 200ml tub is £20, a little on the pricey side, but worth the little splurge.

The fifth product is the Sebamed Anti dry day defence cream.

This a much needed product for me. With having to walk 5 miles a day for the school run in freezing temperatures, my skin is suffering. I have used it and i can say I'm quite impressed. There is no scent and has really done its magic on my dry patches. A 50ml bottle costs £9.99. Defiantly recommend giving this one a try.

This month Glossy box gave their subscribers a bonus product. Mine was this very pretty own brand blusher.

The shade is Glossy Rosewood. This is a very nice little extra. It looks a very suitable shade for my skin tone and will be defiantly adding this to my makeup bag.

Overall i thought this was a disappointing box, especially before Christmas. Some products i will keep but most will go to the bin or to friends. As always with Glossy box, I find myself jealous of other people’s boxes, but it is still a nice treat to myself once a month. I may wait till January's box to decided whether or not to carry on my subscription.  What do you think? What did you get in your boxes?

*Sunday outfit*

deeruntitled

This weekend has been a lovely, relaxed, chilled time. We decided not to leave the house at all and ive loved it. Today, my husband's Dad came to visit and i made a lovely sunday lunch. Knowing pyjamas wouldn't be suitable, i made a little bit of effort in my appearance today.

It is freezing at the moment, so went with a burgundy wool skirt paired with black woolly tights. These were both from Primark. I spent ages this morning trying to find a nice top to go with the skirt but eventually decided to wear just a basic v neck black tshirt from H&M which i have tucked into to the skirt.

On Ebay a while back i discovered some lovely Kitsch jewellery pieces. I brought my deer necklace from a shop called Melo Yumi. I love the length of the chain. Its the perfect length for me as i sometimes find necklaces quite restricting and uncomfortable.

Also from Ebay is my cute claw ring. This was a bargain at £1. Unfortunalty the metal turns my finger green if i wear it for too long so only wear it for nights out.

How are you lovely people spending your weekends?

My Dream Pandora Bracelet.

John Greed jewellers are holding an amazing Christmas competition for bloggers, giving you the chance to win your dream Pandora bracelet! All you have to do is create your dream Pandora bracelet from the John Greed website with a maximum spend of £250. I'm getting really into these competitions as you can see from my previous blog posts. As it that amazing time of year, I had to go with a winter wonderland/ Christmas theme.

Here is my Pandora dream bracelet for exactly £250.

Pandora Christmas bracelet

The top selling bracelet is this Silver number. It is classed as a starter bracelet at £55.  I chose this so i could maximise my number of charms.

My favourite charm is the gingerbread man. This one cost £30. Gingerbread is my favourite baked goods at Christmas and thought this little man was so cute.

Next up is the polar bear. Again this costs £30.  I've always loved all things polar bear  related. Used to have a few bear toys when i was little.  Also I was keeping with the Winter/ Christmas theme so the bear was an obvious choice for me.

Who can have Christmas without a Christmas tree? This charm is quite expensive at £65. The star is 14ct Gold which is probably why. Very pretty charm though.

The Pandora Christmas stocking is the cheaper one at £25. It is very cute and love the little bear poking out of the top.

Finally, I added a little snow flake. I was attracted like a magpie to the ice blue gem. Very winter wonderland. This one costs £45.

Hope you like my bracelet. Fancy a go? Go to the John Greed website here.

Kate Hudson starts a new trend: Pyjamas.

Kate Hudson, who is the Almay Global Brand Ambassador, attended the Launch of the new Almay Intense i-Color Bold Nudes and Smart Shade Mousse Makeup in New York wearing this Slouchy striped blouse with matching trousers, her long blonde hair worn in tousled waves completed her look.

The outfit is by Philip Lim from his 3.1 label. On the website, the outfit is described as:  Eclectic—yet rigorously focused—look which brings combined chic urban striping, and tropical florals on a sleek, minimalist silhouette. Named "flutility" by Phillip Lim, this fusion of flowers and utilitarian tailoring produces a uniquely covetable aesthetic. As for the pumps, they are not that special. They're Casadei, not exactly slippers. :)

If you fancy following this comfy trend, the blouse will set you back £325 and the trousers are £391. If that kind of wallet damage doesn't keep you up at night, I am jealous of you.

I absolutely love the outfit but can't help but think it will be too high maintenance. I wouldn't be able to sit down in fear of creases and stains. On Kate though, It’s so chic and minimalist, allowing her natural beauty to shine though. This is a perfect, simple, clean look to be promoting makeup.

Kate Hudson seems to be well known at the moment for wearing 'the pyjama' trend. She was snapped at Heathrow airport with her son wearing stripey pyjama style trousers paired with heels and a black blazer. I must admitt, I cringed a little when i saw this picture. However, the girl is so pretty that she can wear out a bin bag and still look amazing. Plus, its a very comfy option for a long haul flight.

Kate isn't the only one. Earlier in the year Stella McCartney started showing the trend in her catwalk shows. Celebrities such as Tilda Swinton and Rihanna are massive fans.

Christmas gift ideas

Christmas gift ideas

These are just a few small ideas Ive come up with for Christmas gifts. I've loosely based them on mine and my friends wish list so hopefully you like them too.

Starting with the ladies gifts:

The Nars Edie Gift set is from the Andy Warhol collection and retails at £54.00. The set is presented in an authentic 16mm film canister and includes:

  • NEW Film Star Pure Matte Lipstick—60s nude pink
  • Edie Eyeshadow—cream with a little bit of shimmer
  • Carpates Eyeliner Stylo—black
  • Mini Blush Duo in Deep Throat and Amour—flirty, sheer peach and peachy pink
  • 16mm film canister

  • Marc Jacobs Ipad case 'Shorty the boxer'. I found this one for £38.58 at Nordstrom.com. This is must have for people who like quicky but cute things. Also, I find this price to be quite reasonalable for a designer case.

Lady Gaga Perfum. A 50 ml bottle is currently selling at £29.99 from the perfumshop.com. They also have gift sets for £31.50. This one has to be my favourite perfum of the year. Don't normally like celeb frangrances but this one is a must have.

Lauren Conrad Beauty. This is her first guide dedicated exclusively to beauty. The book covers everything you need to know to maximize your own beauty potential. From tips for creating a strong foundation and maintaining healthy skin and hair through diet, exercise, and all-around wellness to everyday makeup techniques and tricks of the trade for special-occasion looks. Lauren's personal anecdotes and illustrated step-by-step lessons for makeup, hair, and nails will have you looking great for day or night. The best price i found was Amazon at £8.24.

Micheal Kors Rose gold watch. This has been the top selling watch of this year but at around £185, it is one pricey present to buy. Most shops have sold out but are still available from the watchshop.com.

    For the boys

Lego minecraft. This is one of the top selling toys this christmas with most stores selling out already. It costs a very over priced £75 on Amazon and also going for that on Ebay but have just found it on the Lego website for £35.99. Get it quick!!  I think the joy on your husbands/ boyfriends/ brother/ Dad (if they like their gaming of course) will be priceless.

Beats by Dr. Dre. These are one of the best headsets on the market and cost around £118 on Amazon.

Micheal Kors Mens Watch. The one shown above is £177 from the watch shop.  I love These watches and find them to look so stylish.

Burberry touch. A 30 ml bottle costs £21.50 from the perfum shop.  You can never go wrong with giving the gift of perfum at christmas. This one is one of my personal favourite men's scents. Its described as evoking feelings of intimacy, sensuality & sophistication, representing many of Burberry's core values.

Edwin Jagger Ribbon Gift Set - Travel Set with Hydrating Pre-Shave Cream & Sandalwood. For some reason, every year all the men i know have talked about always wanting an old fashioned shaving kit. I have never brought them one but this year i might get round to it. This one i have featured is high end luxury at £120. It features:

  • Edwin Jagger - impeccable male grooming accessories
  • Includes: Mach 3 razor with a Gillette head
  • Travel badger hair shaving brush
  • 100ml of natural hydrating pre-shave lotion
  • 100ml of shaving cream with gorgeous sandalwood scent
  • Shaving cream and aftershave lotion sample pots
  • Genuine leather travel case

  • I have found cheaper versions like this one from amazon at £19.90

Hope this gives you a few ideas.

    Barratts Christmas Giveaway.

Today, I was excited to receive another email telling me about an exciting giveaway. This time it was from Barrats shoes asking me if I was interested in entering their giveaway that they were holding.

The Prize is in two parts and worth £100.

The first part of a £30 giveaway is over on Kel Loves blog. <go and say hi.

The second part is worth £70 and is open to bloggers only. To enter this giveaway, you have to create an outfit post for a festive occasion. The outfits should be designed to fit one of a range of Christmas situations which can be either:
*A walk in a winter wonderland
    * Christmas party
    * A shopping Outfit
    *Christmas day outfit
    * Or anything else festive you can think of.

The clothing can come from any website you choose, but the shoes must come from Barratts. Also, don't forget Barratts have their own range or bags and accessories, so you can also use these in your outfits!

Since i have already created a party outfit, I thought i would do a long day of Christmas shopping outfit:
    Barrats creepers

For my Long Shopping Day outfit I wanted to make sure the outfit would be completely comfortable, shoes being the most important ones. I tried wearing heels once on a long shopping trip and had to be helped home by my poor friend. Never again!
I chose a pair of simple black Creepers that cost a bargain price of £25.00. Feel these look amazing and are so cosy on your feet.
The rest of the outfit comes from the wonderful topshop. I found a stunning Christmas holly jumper for £50, and paired it with a cute leather skirt. I have also added a ox blood collar which costs £22.00 to add a little more style and detail.  I chose a cross body bag which is ideal to free up those hands so you can carry more shopping bags! Finally, I had to add a cute Christmas pudding beanie I found in River Island. It costs £15.99 and found it to be such a cute little find.

    Hope you like the outfit.

My fashion Vouchers Challenge: Christmas party outfit.

Last week I received an email from Fashionvouchers.com to tell me about their fashion blogger challenge. The challenge is to find the best Christmas party outfits for £100 and under. There are three £100 fashion vouchers for the three best outfits, and each entrant needs to pick one merchant from the list of all the merchants on FashionVouchers.com, to create their outfit from. As a lover of putting outfits together, I couldn't help but participate.

My 'merchant' of choice is Missguided.  I've chosen this shop as i am very familiar with their clothing and so know this is a great place to shop. Looking through their party outfits, i think I've made a excellent choice.

    This is my Christmas outfit:

    Christmas party outfit

So, these are my picks! This is a Christmas party outfit so I decided  to choose a festive berry red colour of dress. It really caught my eye. Also, I'm all about studs at the moment (I have an inner rock chick) so when I saw this gorgeous dress I knew exactly how I wanted the rest of my outfit to look!  The clutch bag, I admit is a bit Bah Humbug but I love it and thought it suited the look of the dress well. My favourite piece in this outfit is the Bellenca leather jacket with a fur collar. Who wants to be cold on a night out? You will really look stylish and feel warm at the same time wearing this one. Love the fur collar. Unfortunately I ran out of money for shoes, but every girl has a pair of cute heels in her wardrobe, right?

This outfit comes to a grand total of: £94.98

    Hope you like it!!
